United SC promoted

Guwahati: Chirag United SC on Sunday qualified for the I-League top division after a solitary goal win over Indian Bank in a second division final round league match here.

Louis Nigi Ebami scored the all-important goal in the 47th minute with a long-range effort from near the centre-line.

This was the Calcutta side’s third successive win in the round-robin league. With nine points and two matches left, they became the first team to get promoted to the first division.

Mohammedan Sporting now have six points from three matches while Mumbai FC and Vasco SC have six and three points from two matches each, respectively. (PTI)
