Bid to win rural folks

Ranchi, April 27: The state government would try to win the confidence of villagers before initiating the process of land acquisition for the proposed central university in Jharkhand.

The villagers of Dungra village in Khunti (near Sapphire International School) were apprised on Sunday about the plans of the state government and the Union HRD ministry for the central university in a two-hour-long meeting of Gram Sabha.

State HRD minister Bandhu Tirkey, Khunti MP Shushila Kerketta, HRD secretary J.B. Tubid, higher education director Anjani Kumar Shrivastava, Khunti deputy commissioner S.S. Meena were present in the meeting among others. Villagers led by the Gram Pradhan Kamal Sanga talked with the authorities to know how they would be benefited from the project. Authorities did not promise anything but packages were being drawn up, sources said.
