Division of assets in a limbo
- Nitish in capital on personal visit

Ranchi, April 27: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today confirmed that there was no headway to the division of assets and liabilities between Bihar and Jharkhand since the situation in the newly formed state was still fluid.

Nitish, who was on a personal visit to the state capital, claimed that when Arjun Munda was the chief minister of Jharkhand, the negotiations between the two states were proceeding in positive direction.

However, after the fall of the Munda government, negotiation at the government-level has virtually been dumped aside.

“The situation in Jharkhand is fluid. It wouldn’t be wise for us to expect much from the Madhu Koda-led government. But the officials are doing their job. Let us hope for the best,” said Nitish.

On the impasse in the national politics, the Bihar chief minister said that the UPA partners were not willing to take the risk of securing fresh mandate at this juncture following steep rise in the prices of essential commodities. But the the Janata Dal (United) was fully prepared to face the eventualities, he said.“Is it not the Centre’s responsibility to check price rise of steel and cement,” he asked.

Nitish also bitterly criticised the Centre for giving only 1,000 tonnes of foodgrain to Bihar for the BPL families.

Without referring to railway minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad, Nitish said: “He (Yadav) is not ‘allowing’ the Prime Minister to visit Bihar because he is upset with the positive developments taking place there.”

Talking about his meeting with Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) delegates yesterday, Kumar said he was not averse to review the accord signed between India and Nepal in 1950.

Nitish Kumar also advised them to concentrate on new hydel power projects that are very important for the economic development.
