New Delhi: There was good news for Indian football on Wednesday when the ministry of sports put the game back on its priority list after almost a year.
Apart from football and mens hockey, six other disciplines — swimming, basketball, cycling, volleyball, school games and university games — are back in the priority games list.
Meanwhile, the AIFF is likely to start the I-League from September 12. The next edition might only be played in four venues — Calcutta, Goa, Mumbai and Ludhiana.
Bengal are likely to play their first match in the Santosh Trophy in Srinagar on June 5 or 6. Bengal, who finished runners-up in the last edition at Gurgaon, have been seeded directly into the quarter-final league. The final is likely to be played on June 15.
