new reserve

Animal farm

A landowner in scot- land has an innovative idea up his sleeve to restore the ecological balance in his homeland. Paul Lister plans to create a Highlands wildlife reserve by introducing brown bears, lynx and wolves to the area. He has already introduced a pair of moose from Sweden in his 450-acre estate and aims to populate it with animals that haven’t been seen in Europe or Britain for centuries. Lister told BBCNews that he wants to build a wildlife reserve similar to the ones that exist in southern Africa. Although there is still some time and many hurdles to be overcome before larger predators can be introduced to the reserve, Lister said that the presence of red deer in large numbers causes problems. Therefore, bringing in the predators and setting up a wildlife reserve will only balance the ecology in the area. Let’s hope that Lister’s efforts bear fruit.

Hercules at work

So you thought only Hercules was capable of pulling off tasks thought impossible by humans? Well, Lai Yingying of Quanzhou City, China, did it too by pushing a truck with 15 adults, wearing a pair of steel boots that weighed 162 kg. Yingying is a martial arts expert and covered his feet with gauze before he wore the shoes, twice his own weight and pushed it for 15 metres.
