EB show cause Edmilson

East Bengal on Tuesday served a showcause notice on Edmilson Marques seeking an explanation for his behaviour during the AFC Cup home tie against Al Wihdat earlier this month. He was shown the red card. The Brazilian striker, has been given seven days to reply.

“Our course of action will be decided after he (Edmilson) replies. If we are not satisfied with his answer he can punished too,” a top East Bengal official said.

IFA nod to Bayern tie

The IFA on Tuesday gave the green signal to the Bengal Peerless group to organise the Mohun Bagan-Bayern Munich exhibition match on May 27 at the Salt Lake Stadium.

Kalighat in semi-finals

Kalighat reached the semi-finals of the CAB knock-out one-day tournament beating Wari AC by seven wickets on Tuesday. Kalighat will play Eastern Railway in the semi-finals.

Atanu to officiate

Atanu Banerjee, a basketball referee, will officiate in the Champions Cup in Kuwait from May 8-16.

He will be the second referee from the country to play a role in the Kuwait meet.

The 34-year-old had earlier officiated eight matches in the World Cup in Moscow last year.
