Allies in pre-poll clash

Balurghat/Raiganj, April 21: Members of the CPM and the RSP, two Left Front partners, clashed at Gopalbati in Balurghat last night, leaving several persons injured and a number of houses damaged in a pre-poll violence. The violence started after a CPM supporter was allegedly attacked by the RSP members .

In Raiganj, three persons were injured and 10 huts were set on fire in a clash between the CPM and the Congress at Elengia. No one has been arrested.


Rescued

Siliguri: An Assam police team on Sunday rescued a 30-year-old woman who was allegedly trafficked to Khalpara — the red light area of Siliguri — and took her back home.


NBU results

Siliguri: North Bengal University will publish by April 28 the results of the BBA and BCA papers which were reassessed after many candidates failed their end-semester exams.


Ministers

Alipurduar: Union ministers Jairam Ramesh and Priya Ranjan Das Munshi will participate in a public meeting at Hasimara under Kalchini Block on May 1. Mohon Sharma, the president of the block Congress committee, said the ministers would also visit closed tea gardens in the block.
