Tea workers protest killing
Silchar: Nearly 1,500 workers from Dholai tea estate staged a four-hour blockade in front of Katlicherra police station on Sunday in protest against the killing of a comrade, Arun Rii, on Friday night. They were particularly upset about the way the body was dumped in the garage of the police station.
ome of the police personnel fled at the sight of such a strong crowd approaching. The mob was pacified by additional superintendent of police, K.N. Deka, who promised that a post-mortem would be carried out.

Dimapur: The Naga Council, Dimapur, has appealed to all Naga militant groups to shun fratricidal killings, abduction and extortion.

Imphal: Strongly denouncing the militant interference in education institutions, Manipur Lok Sabha MP T. Meinya on Saturday called for making education a peace zone.
Murder
Karbi Anglong: Unidentified men on Saturday gunned down Sunkon Rajbongshi at Bhakatbill under Bokajan police station in Karbi Anglong. Police said investigation was on to ascertain the cause of the murder.
Realisation day
Imphal: The All Manipur Students’ Union has reaffirmed to intensify its campaign for the protection of indigenous people of Manipur while observing its 28th Mitkap Thokpa Numit (Realisation Day) recently. The Mikap Thokpa Numit is observed every year in memory of two student leaders — P. Lukhoi and H. Lokendro.
