If you are a world cinema buff, stay at home on Sunday afternoons for the next four months or so. Zee Studio has launched Sultans of Cinema, a World Cinema festival that showcases 26 films of international acclaim made by master filmmakers like Ingmar Bergman, Akira Kurosawa, Wong Kar-Wai, François Truffaut, Inagaki, Krzysztof Kieslowski and Jim Jarmusch, every Sunday at 3pm.
According to Neil Chakravarti, business head, Zee Studio: The festival is an ode to the finest international film-makers who thought ahead of their times and produced works of cinematic brilliance. Each film showcased as part of Sultans of Cinema will be a masterpiece in itself an education in film-making.
Start the experience with Ingmar Bergman, the director who revolutionised Swedish cinema, next Sunday. Kurosawa takes over the small screen all of June. Known for his deep fascination with the man-woman equation, François Truffaut explores the dynamics of infidelity in a series of movies all through July. Come August, you have Kieslowski and Wong Kar-Wai at their best and Jim Jarmusch all of Sepetember.
