Shillong, April 18: Former chief executive member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), H.S. Shylla, was disqualified as the member of the council today for “anti-party activities”.
The KHADC chairman, M. Pyrbot, in an order issued today said since Shylla, a Congress member, was involved in anti-party activities during the recently concluded Assembly elections, so he was disqualified.
In the last Assembly elections, Shylla did not campaign for the official candidate of the Congress, Waibha Kyndiah, who contested from Nongkrem constituency in East Khasi Hills.
Suicide
A mentally unsound girl, Sarankia Gogoi, 18, allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of her building in ONGC Colony at Sivasagar this afternoon, says our Guwahati reporter.
Body recovered: The bullet-riddled body of a man, identified as Irom Ratan, 36, of Keinou Awang Leikai village, was recovered from adjacent Keinou Thong-kha Chiru village in Manipur’s Bishnupur district today.
