Product launch for family planners

Ranchi, April 16: For family planners here’s a new contraceptive on the block.

Private Sector Partnership-One (PSP-One), a company dealing with contraceptives, on Wednesday launched its services in Jharkhand.

Initially, its services would be available only in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and Hazaribagh.

Launching the programme here, Anand Verdhan Sinha, country director PSP-One, said the company offers a wide range of contraceptives.

Stressing on the Depot-Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (DMPA) method, Sinha said, it is an indictable contraceptive, which works for a period of three months at a stretch. It is convenient and has several health benefits.

Sinha said the company has entered into an agreement with several gynaecologists in these cities, who would be spreading awareness about the DMPA method of contraception.

They would also tell patients about the usage of the contraceptives, he said.

Sinha said the contraceptive is 99.7 per cent effective and globally accepted.

“It is a good option for women wanting to space birth as it is totally reversible, with a return to fertility in five-six months after the effect of the last injection,” said Sinha.

He also said that the DMPA method is economical.

The PSP-One has already established 1,000 clinics across 41 cities in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

It has a similar plan in place for Jharkhand. PSP-One officials said the DMPA is offered along with other contraceptive methods.
