House owners in Calcutta can pay property tax in any of the 15 civic treasury offices from Wednesday. Till now, the tax could only be deposited in the treasury office in the area where the house is located. unicipal commissioner Alapan Bandyopadhyay said e-connectivity between the offices has made the tax payment possible at any location. According to him, whenever a civic employee logs into the network, his username and password will be recorded in the central server at the civic headquarters. This is part of the Calcutta Municipal Corporation’s e-governance project, funded by the British government’s Department for International Development.
