Imphal, April 14: The 1st Manipur State Ranking Badminton Tournament will begin on Wednesday at MBA Indoor Stadium on D.M. College campus.

The five-day meet, being organised by Manipur Badminton Association, will feature nine events in 18 categories.

The events are under-10 mini boys/girls, under-13 midget boys/girls, under-16 sub-junior boys/girls, under-19 junior boys/girls, men’s and women’s, veteran 40 plus, veteran 45 plus, veteran 50 plus and veteran 55 plus.

No entry fee will be charged but the contestants will have to pay a minimal registration fee and buy their equipment from the organisers, convenor S. Inaobi Singh said.

The examination for state-level umpires (Grades I and II) will be held on Thursday and Friday.
