Suspension order for racial remark

Shillong: Shillong Law College has suspended faculty member F.L. Nonglait for allegedly making a racial remark in the classroom. Principal O.D.V. Ladia issued the suspension order after the governing body of the college decided to institute an inquiry to probe the allegation.
Following the suspension, Nonglait will not be able to take classes until further order.

Convention

Silchar: The four-day Manipuri national convention organised by the Northeast Students’ Co-ordination Committee will begin here on April 25. Nearly 1,000 delegates from all the states of the Northeast, Bangladesh and Myanmar will participate in the convention.

Traders robbed

Silchar: Three Calcutta-based traders were robbed of Rs 5 lakh at gunpoint at Boalipar, near Hailakandi town in south Assam on Saturday. Later, the police picked up a member of the gang, identified as Alimuddin.

Killer in custody

Imphal: N. Ibomcha, accused of raping and killing one Laishram Sanatombi in Thobal on Thursday, was remanded in 10 days’ police custody by a district court on Sunday.

Rebel shot dead

Imphal: Police gunned down an unidentified militant at Nagamapal in Imphal on Saturday night. A .9mm pistol with a round of ammunition was found on him.
