Krazzy kiya re!

Who’s gone Krazzy now? Has to be producer Rakesh Roshan. Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, Koi... Mil Gaya, Krrish and now... Krazzy 4?!? Debutant director Jaideep Sen has lost it; maybe not his mind (like his four protagonists) but definitely the storyline. Krazzy 4 has absolutely no focus.

The introduction to the characters at the beginning of the film tells us that Krazzy 4 is about four men in a mental rehabilitation centre. A very very angry young man, Arshad; a Gandhi bhakt, Rajpal Yadav; a doctor obsessed with cleanliness, Irrfan; and a guy gone mute for some unexplained reason, Suresh Menon.

What happens after that? Lemme think (it’s just been an hour since the film ended and so thinking is tough!). Oh yes, Rakhi Sawant showing off the butterfly tattoo on her lower abs and doing the jhatkas like never before to a rustic number Dekhta hai tu kya. Irrfan was lurking there somewhere, but why?

What next? Shah Rukh Khan doing his own version of MJ, to that controversial (chori kiya re!) title track K r a zee zee y....

And the film? Well, as mentioned earlier it’s a story of four ‘mad’ people. They have a sweet doctor, Juhi Chawla (a psychiatrist once more after Deewana Mastana). She decides to take the crazy boys out to watch a cricket match, but they do not even reach the stadium. Juhi gets kidnapped. And the four men wander around town almost like in an awful adult copy of Baby’s Day Out.

Arshad suddenly meets his girlfriend, Dia Mirza, and decides to say ‘sorry’ to her father whom he had slapped in a fit of rage four years ago. Irrfan suddenly meets his daughter and goes off to meet his wife. Such mindless unrelated things keep happening, with a couple of songs thrown in (yes, Rajesh Roshan has a couple of originals too).

Rajat Kapoor and Zakir Hussain, the two bad men, do their bit with aplomb. But what a waste of a wealth of actors — Irrfan, Rajpal, Arshad, Juhi, Rajat... As the end nears, the film even gets didactic. There’s a debate on who is mad and a teary humane appeal... Krazzy kiya re!

Oh, forget it! Look who’s here. It’s Hrithik Roshan doing the Krazzy song, once more time, with the end credit rolling. Time to move on, feeling more than a little crazy — or is it krazzy? — yourself.
