Calcutta: Trainer Vijay Singh retained the championship honour with 49 wins — an improvement of three points compared to last winter. However, the champion was overall happy about the performance of his young and older horses, He is looking forward to the Bangalore summer season.

RCTC’s stewards also honoured aged horses like Sea Legend and El Cid who performed creditably during the season winning four and three races respectively with mementos. The following are the top three professionals in their respective categories:

Top trainers: Vijay Singh (49 wins), Daniel David (34) and Javed Khan (23).

Top jockeys: Christopher Alford (38 wins), Neeraj Rawal (32) and Imran Chisty (29).

Top Apprentice jockeys: Afzal Khan (10 wins and 11 seconds), C. S. Jodha (10 wins, 9 seconds) and Jugnu Gurang (4).

Top Tipsters: The Telegraph (648 points), Dainik Statesman (604) and Best Of Luck (603).
