Jamshedpur, April 4: The East Singhbhum district administration has reason to celebrate.
While most of the departments have reached the targets set by the administration in revenue collection, others have achieved much more.
The mining department has collected a revenue of Rs 743 crore against a target of Rs 731 crore.
Though the transport department did not achieve the target, it registered the highest collection in the state. It collected a revenue of Rs 23.85 crore — far ahead of last year’s Rs 22.16. Compared to the collection of East Singhbhum, Dhanbad collected Rs 21 crore while Ranchi collected Rs 18 crore.
The excise department came out with a record collection of Rs 33.03 crore — Rs 2 crore more than last year — and registered the highest number of raids —1,894 raids, compared to last year’s 802.
East Singhbhum registered a total of 3,476 flats this fiscal, against 3,380 last fiscal.
The agriculture produce committee collected Rs 4.90 crore against last year’s Rs 3.80 crore, with Chakulia alone pitching in Rs 43 lakh.
The weights and measures department, too, exceeded its target and all three branches — Telco, Bistupur and Ghatshila — registered 102 per cent revenue collection.
Against a total collection of Rs 7 crore last year, the department collected Rs 11.78 crore this year. It has already been given the target of achieving Rs 20 crore for the next fiscal.
Altogether, 553 cases were disposed of in the last fiscal, while 7,025 cases remain pending.
About 5,477 cases disposed of out of 5,509 cases by the mutation department.
However, the town circle of the sales tax department did not come out with the expected results with a collection of Rs 156 crore against a target of Rs 168 crore.
The district collected a total of Rs 845 crore — 28 per cent of the entire revenue generated by the state. The notified areas and municipality did not come out with the targeted figures either.
While Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee collected Rs 10.2 lakh against a target of Rs 11.87 lakh, Mango Notified Area Committee collec-ted Rs 21.16 lakh against a target of Rs 24.66 lakh while Jugsalai municipality collected Rs 17 lakh against a target of Rs 23.7 lakh.
East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Nitin Madan Kulkarni said: “The collection this time in some departments has exceeded the target. I have already convened a meeting today of various departments and taken measures for increasing the amount in the next financial year.”
