Giridih, April 4: The district administration and the municipality here are confused over who will administer oath to the new civic body officials, but the elected representatives seem to have a clearer vision.
The new chairperson of Giridih municipality, Poonam Prakash, on Thursday called a meeting of the vice-chairman and 29 ward commissioners at the old circuit house.
“I have called the meeting not only to get to know each other but also to begin work in our respective areas in view of Ram Navami,” Prakash told ward commissioners at the meeting. “The condition of our areas is very poor and it would take a long time to clean them. Therefore, let us begin work on our own.”
The urban development ministry and the administration here have been trying to answer who should administer oath to the new representatives and where should they be accommodated. But the Giridih municipal chairman seems to be least bothered about such formalities.
“The public who sent us here have great expectations from us and it is our responsibility to stand up to their faith. It is also required for us to work as a team,” she said.
The chairman also laid out at least one rule of engagement when vice-chairman Vibhakar Pandey arrived late. “This is the first meeting therefore I will not talk too much about punctuality. But from the next meeting you need to be on time,” she said.
