Bitter talk to shock Maken

Ranchi, April 4: The Jharkhand affairs in-charge of the Congress, Ajay Maken, could be in an embarrassing situation tomorrow if the Congress activists remind him of his stand to withdraw support from the Madhu Koda-led state government.

State Congress president Pradeep Balmuchu said: “The party activists are demoralised and would possibly raise the issue during the question-answer session.”

He also said the state of indecisiveness was harming the party. “It is better to take a firm decision in the larger interest of the state,” he said.

The state Congress chief, however, maintained that the pressure exercised by the party had moved the Koda government. Balmuchu also refuted the Opposition allegation that Maken went soft after “Koda managed him”.

Maken, meanwhile, is supposed to play a teacher at the two-day workshop aimed at training the state Congress leaders on how to hard-shell the “achievements” of the Union government at the grassroots in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.

Congress spokesman Alok Dubey said that the two-day meet was aimed at preparing some 800 party leaders, including MPs and MLAs, from across the state to take the Congress-led Union government’s plans for the minorities, jobless, tribals and farmers to villages. Bandi Oraon and B.D. Sharma, associated with Bharat Jan Andolan, would be delivering lecture at the meet. Union minister of state for food processing Subodh Kant Sahay would also attend the meet.
