What can you pick up from the racks and share with Banku and JoJo, the child stars of Bhoothnath? It’s Bucchki, a high-speed spinner toy, presented by Pogo channel, for Rs 149

B for Bhoothnath

Big B was in a great mood during the promo shoot of Chhote Ustaad. With one of the chhote ustaads being the namesake of his bahu Aishwarya and the other (Anwesha) coming from the home state of wife Jaya, AB got chatting with the girls as soon as he was introduced to them.

Aishwarya, Amitabh and Anwesha

AB kept telling the cameraperson, “These are the stars of today, hum to junior artiste hain!”. When he noticed Aishwarya wearing a shirt too large for her size, he immediately went and adjusted her collar (in picture, left) saying: “Yeh mera shirt aapko kisne de diya?”

He spoke to the girls about woman power and congratulated them on being the first two women finalists on a reality show in India. He also wished them luck to walk the last mile.

Tune in to catch Bhoothnath Amitabh on Voice of India Chhote Ustaad Grand Finale on Saturday, April 5, at 8pm on Star Plus.

High fives

The Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? team is moving from city to city auditioning for probable contestants on the show. And the reception has been awesome.

The selection team is at sixes and sevens over the sorting of contestant profiles for Paanchvi Pass. The effect of the on-air and off-air campaigns is evident from the fact that physicians, trained pilots, advocates, teachers, engineers, software professionals, singers, musician, small-time actors and all are pouring in to audition for Paanchvi Pass....

Centres like Bhopal and Bangalore saw a flood of aspirants requesting to meet Shah Rukh Khan convinced that the superstar was there for the auditions.

The Delhi, Mumbai and Calcutta auditions saw aspirants waiting for hours outside the audition centres to appear for the Paanchvi Pass test.

While some are excited about the prize money of Rs 5 crore, others are raving about how the test is child’s play and so a date with the SRK seems assured. The wait will be over soon as Paanchvi Pass hits STAR Plus.

Style stars

Hrithik Roshan

The results are in. Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif are the biggest Bollywood style stars across the border. The two were voted ARY Style Icon and ARY Style Diva by voters in Pakistan at the Apsara Film Producers Guild Awards.

Katrina Kaif

“This was the first time at any Indian film awards that two categories were reserved for Pakistan. The voting was done by people from Pakistan’s film and television industry,” said Sabbas Joseph, director of Wizcraft International Entertainment that put up the award ceremony in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex on March 30.

“There may be a number of film awards but this is the only one that is given by the industry. It is completely non-commercial,” said Ronnie Screwvala, president of The Film and Television Producers’ Guild of India, and UTV’s CEO.

Perhaps he has a point. While Chak De! India swept the awards, picking up Best Film, Best Actor, Best Editing and Best Screenplay, one wonders why Taare Zameen Par, distributed by the guild president’s company UTV, did not even get a nomination! As for the rest (read performances by Salman, Katrina, Kareena, Bipasha, Riteish and Pakistan pop group Overload), watch NDTV Imagine on April 10.

A Devgan family moment

On April 2, the Devgans gathered round Ajay on the sets of Zee TV’s Rock-N-Roll Family. A real surprise for the macho star, the get-together (with his two sisters as well) was such a rarity for the camera-shy family that wife Kajol blurted out that this was the first family photograph she would get! Ajay made his nephew cut the cake while his parents applauded. Watch the family-album moment on Friday at 10pm
