Shillong, April 1: The Nationalist Congress Party-led Meghalaya Progressive Alliance is set to form the new executive committee of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) on Thursday.
After eight Congress members of GHADC switched over to the NCP-led Garo Hills Progressive Alliance (GHPA), its strength rose to 16 in the House of 30, reducing the Congress-led executive committee to a minority. While the GHPA has 16 members of district councils (MDCs), the Congress has only 14 MDCs after the defection of some members in the House of 30.
