Poison death cloud on husband

Balurghat, March 31: A woman in Tapan has lodged a police complaint accusing her son-in law of poisoning her daughter and grandson, who died within a day of each other in the Gangarampur government hospital.

“My daughter Radha married Sulku Singh, a Group D worker of the Balurghat municipality, four years ago. He had been hounding her for money,” Jyotsna Singh said.

The woman alleged that on March 20, a “sick and weak” Radha came to her parental home in Tapan’s Alinagar with the three-month-old baby. She was admitted to hospital where the baby died on March 27 after he was breast-fed. Radha died the next day.

Hospital sources said the woman was being treated for poisoning. Police said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and a case started.
