Ranchi, March 20: Passengers boarding trains at Hatia station would no longer have to ask co-passengers about the position of their respective coaches.
The Ranchi railway division has decided to revamp the Hatia station with coach indication system. It has also decided to illuminate Hatia as well as other stations better and make arrangements for drinking water facilities at smaller stations.
Divisional railway manager (DRM), Ranchi, A.K. Dutta has been allotted Rs 50 lakh as discretionary fund for spending on things that he deems fit for the development of his railway division.
Explaining his plan for spending the allotted funds, Dutta said: “Preference would be given to works that are most important.”
The renovation work of all the big and small stations would be carried out from this fund. Thus, passengers of smaller stations in the Ranchi railway division could expect better amenities from the next year.
Dutta said the railway yards at stations like Ranchi, Hatia, Bano, Jhalda, Lohardaga and Suisa would have more illumination facilities. The divisional railway manager also said extra sheds for passengers would be constructed at these stations.
The seven stations mentioned above have been given the status of model stations. So, the divisional railway manager wants to provide better passenger amenities at these stations.
