4500kg ganja haul

The Central Bureau of Narcotics seized 4,556 kg ganja valued at Rs 2.5 crore from an Uttar Pradesh-bound truck at Jorabat on Wednesday. Two persons were arrested. The names of the accused have not been disclosed yet. According to a CBN source, the truck was coming from Manipur. He said it is one of the biggest ganja hauls in recent times.

Five arrested

Five robbers were arrested from Kotahbari on Wednesday. Three crude bombs, one handmade pistol and sharp weapons were seized from them.

Official held

Dispur police arrested school inspector Dulal Chandra Lahkar from Ganeshguri in connection with a case registered against him at Nalbari police station. Lahkar had taken money from temporary teachers in Nalbari promising regularisation of services. He will be handed over to Nalbari police.

Robbery

Latasil police arrested Niraj Soni from Ulubari on Tuesday night on charges of robbery. Soni robbed Rs 10 lakh from businessman Sanjay Agarwal from Kharghuli on March 12.

Plea on park

Residents of Chatribari have expressed serious resentment over degraded state of the Nalini Bala Park on AT Road. They have asked GMC to immediately develop the park.

The Life Insurance Corporation of India, Guwahati branch, has opened a satellite branch office at Narengi.
