Nine die in Bihar

Patna, March 23: At least nine persons died in cases of violence and mishap in and around Bihar’s capital in the past 24 hours.

Three persons, Muneshwar Bind (58), Murarika Bind (60) and Bindhyachal Bind (25) were gunned down by a group of armed men around 3am at Masaurhi on the outskirts of Patna. Police said that two groups of drunken villagers broke into a violent brawl last evening that culminated in gunfire early this morning leaving the three dead.

Patna senior superintendent of police Kundan Krishnan admitted that BMP jawans have been deployed in villages to maintain peace while investigations were on.

Three persons drowned in the Ganga near Kangana Ghat in Patna yesterday evening, while a fourth is missing. All the four men were in an inebriated state when they decided to take a dip in the Ganga.

Bodies of three were fished out, while a search is on for the fourth missing man.

Brothers Pintu Singh (30) and Chintu Singh (25) were shot allegedly by a henchmen of a spurious liquor factory under Didarganj police station (Patna) last night. The police had demolished the factory yesterday based on a tip off.

Sources believe that Pintu and Chintu may have been the “informers” and they were targeted based on that believe. “We are investigating into the matter,” the SP said.
