Dibrugarh, March 19: A swashbuckling knock of 101 runs not out off 61 balls by opener Debojit Bhuyan went unnoticed as Dibrugarh Blues lost to Tinsukia Railway Divisional Sports and Recreational Club in the final of the 1st All-Assam Twenty20 cricket tournament today.
Tinsukia railmen defeated the Dibrugarh team by 33 runs in the rain-affected final at the Chowkidinghee playground.
Dibrugarh Blues won the toss and decided to field. The decision came as a blessing for the Tinsukia railmen who took the opportunity to pile up a challenging total of 183 runs, losing five wickets.
Former Assam wicketkeeper Samarjeet Nath topscored for Tinsukia with 61 runs off 47 balls. The highlight of the Tinsukia innings, however, was the whirlwind 51 by Pankaj Tamuli off only 17 balls.
For Dibrugarh Blues, Uttam Baruah picked up two wickets.
Chasing 184, the Dibrugarh managed only 150 runs, losing four wickets.
After a quickfire half-century, Tamuli proved successful with the bat too. He picked up two wickets for 25 runs. Bimal Goswami and Suraj Dutta picked up a wicket each.
Bhuyan was declared the Man of the Series, while Tamuli was given the Man of the Match award.
