Calcutta: Avishka Gunawardene steered Delhi Giants to a nine-wicket win over Ahmedabad Rockets in the eighth match of the Edelweiss 20s Challenge at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Panchkula on Sunday.
In another later match, a quick-fire 54-ball 94 by opener Imran Farhat and later a spirited bowling by Azhar Mahmood (three for 40) guieded Lahore Badshahs to a 39-run win over Chandigarh Lions. Elected to bat, Lahore Badshahs piled up 187 for six. In reply, Chandigarh Lions were restricted for 149 for seven, stated an ICL release.
Electing to bat, Ahmedabad Rockets notched up 107 for six in the stipulated 20 overs. Skipper Damien Martyn to do the repair. Martyn made a sedate 45-ball 44. He was given a fine support by Sridharan Sriram, who took 33 balls for his 32.
In reply, the Giants romped home in the 16th over.
