Yoga camp throws traffic out of gear

Jamshedpur, March 12: For a crowd of 10,000 people who turned up at Gopal Maidan on the fourth day of the Yog Vigyan Shivir, 300 extra policemen were deployed to control traffic.

But the police officers were not complaining.

For, some of their own officers had turned up at the camp with their family members.

“It is not a problem at all. The remaining people in the police stations have been asked to take on added responsibilities during the absence of those who attend the camp,” said a policeman.

Against the usual slot of 3-5pm, the no-entry time started at 1pm today to ensure smooth traffic flow.

“The usual time of no-entry has been changed and the vehicles would only be able to reach the main road after 9.30pm today,” said a traffic constable posted at the Jamshedpur Women’s College barricade.

With diversions in place near the Jamshedpur Women’s College and Shanti Hari Towers, drivers of heavy vehicles including trucks, trailers and dumpers faced a tough time.

Public transport was diverted through the connecting road in front of The Milanee towards Bistupur Main Road.

Meanwhile, after a special session for school children yesterday, it was time for the general masses to benefit from a free yoga camp today.

The special session, designed for the aam janta turned out to be a huge success with free entry being the highlight of the evening camp.

“Who does not want free access to Baba’s camp? His tips are invaluable,” said a member of the organising committee and a regular at Baba Ramdev’s camp.

Addressing the huge gathering, the yoga guru stressed on a healthy diet and advised people to incorporate exercise in the form of pranayam in their everyday routine.

Tomorrow, a special session with jail inmates has been lined up for Baba Ramdev at the Sakchi jail.
