Shes the face of: Byata Betir Battle on ETV Bangla and Meter Down on Sangeet Bangla. The first is a battle of the sexes, the second revolves around Bollywood music and gossip.
Her first TV break: An episode in the Aakaash Bangla series Shudhu Tomari Jonyo, directed by Rabiranjan Maitra. I had acted alongside Raima and Moon Moon Sen in it. Soon offers started pouring in and I did the mega serials Tithir Atithi, Swapner Rong Neel, Kabe Je Kothaye and Kothaye Pabo Tare.
She quit megas to host shows when: Her roles were not going anywhere. I was getting trapped in the same family dramas.
She loves anchoring because: Anchoring is very on-spot. I have no fixed dialogues to rattle off and I can do whatever I like. I talk a lot, which I love to do. I dance, crack jokes with my co-anchor and dress the way I want to. Its a complete show for me and my pay is good too. I dont want to go back to serials.
She cant be a serial bahu because: I dont have a conventional face to fit into these roles. Im not one of those who can continue doing mindless stuff for too long. I know I am in the bad book of directors. They dont trust me anymore, but thats fine. We have to make our choices. So no regrets. I dont have the time to rue.
Shes foraying into films with: Debutant director (and boyfriend) Kaushik Mukherjees 3X. The story is about three women. I play someone called Dii. I cant reveal more.
Behind the camera: She heads Overdose, which produces documentaries and ad films. I find behind-the-camera work more appealing. I may become an executive producer five years later.
