Ten countries, two men, one bond...

They were gym buddies for a while. And then they decided to sign up for the Asian edition of The Amazing Race. But little did Collin Law and Adrian Yap from Singapore know that they would end up champions on AXN’s action-packed global reality show. What worked in favour of the duo — Collin is a Sales Director while Adrian is a Strategic Planning Manager — is the fact that they confessed to be “in perfect sync” with each other. This despite Adrian being hearing impaired and the two communicating only through sign language! “Adrian and I don’t really need to talk to understand each other. We have developed this unique method of communicating through signs,” Collin tells t2 from Singapore.

The Amazing Race Asia is a show where brain and brawn are put to the test as participants traverse countries and continents. The winning pair was up against some tough competition, but they did the trick by taking each day at a time. Both Collin and Adrian are adventure freaks, always willing to push themselves to the limit. “Action and adventure gets our adrenaline pumping. Completing the action tasks on the show successfully gave us a tremendous high,” says Collin.

The great bonding notwithstanding, Collin confesses that Adrian’s hearing disability did impede them on occasions. “While driving, I could not use my hands to communicate with Adrian and that posed to be quite a problem for us,” says Collin. That was but a minor hurdle for the champions who travelled 15,543 km to pocket a cool US$100,000.

The Amazing Race Asia journey took Collin and Adrian to 10 countries across four continents, but not India. “India fascinates me. I wish to visit the Taj Mahal,” signs off Collin.
