IAF recce for students

Of the 205 students, 30 have been selected for physical test to be held in Varanasi at the end of this month, said Swapan Sengupta, the in-charge of the placement cell and the head of the college’s electronics department.

The recruitment drive conducted by the officers from Bagdogra air base and spread over two days was the first of its kind in the eastern region. While the students of electronics, telecommunication, computer engineering and IT wrote the test for the jobs at the engineering unit of the IAF, those studying geography and meteorology eye jobs in the Met branch.

The test comprised three parts. The first was engineering knowledge test where multiple choice questions were asked, while the second was a common entrance paper in which the students were asked general knowledge questions. Third was psychometric test.

“All the engineering degree-holders who scored a minimum 60 per cent marks and final year students with 55 per cent marks for six semesters in engineering subjects were eligible to attend the tests,” said an air force officer.

Since the physical test would be tough, only 10 of the 30 are likely to be commissioned as officers in the air force, said an official.
