Woman missing from airport

Calcutta, March 7: A 27-year-old woman allegedly went missing from Calcutta airport’s domestic terminal today.

Her father, Anthony D’Counha, lodged a missing diary at airport police station this evening.

Police suspect the woman, a resident of Bangalore who works in Ranchi, went away with her lover whom her family did not approve of.

“Apparently she is having an affair with a youth from Bangalore. Fearing that she was planning to elope with him, her father and uncle had gone to Ranchi to bring her home and probably get her married to a man of their choice,” a police source said.

The D’Counhas were scheduled to take the 9am Deccan flight to Bangalore. But they missed it and decided to catch the next flight, in the afternoon.

“Her father and uncle went to the domestic airport manager’s office to seek accommodation for a few hours while the woman waited in the lounge. When they came out, she had vanished,” an officer said.
