Dhubri, March 5: Vivekananda Club defeated Gauripur Sports Association by three wickets in today’s match of the Dhubri District Sports Association’s Cricket Tournament at Raja Prabhat Chandra Baruah Maidan here today.

After winning the toss, Vivekananda Club put Gauripur Sports Association to bat and bundled them out for a modest total of 106 runs in 20.1 overs.

Sanjoy Brahma was the only batsman for the team to reach double figures with 23 runs.

Durga Thakur of Vivekananda Club scalped four wickets giving away 26 runs, while Babla Das picked up three wickets at the expense of 17 runs.

In reply, Vivekananda Club scored the required runs in 22.1 overs losing seven wickets.

Vivekananda Club started on a shaky note losing wickets in quick succession and was reduced to 30 for four in 11 overs. However, middle order batsman Subrata Talukdar consolidated the innings scoring an unbeaten 43 along with Samar Das, who scored 19.

All-rounder Sanjoy Brahma of Gauripur Sports Association scalped three wickets giving away 19 runs and Rajoy Karmakar bagged two wickets at the expense of 20 runs.

In tomorrow’s league match, Bhaskar Club will clash with Boys’ Club.
