Rly ground in a shambles

Hailakandi, March 4: The only playground of Badarpur town in Assam’s Karimganj district is facing serious threat because of the negligence of the railway authorities.

During the British regime, the ground was used as a graveyard. After Independence, it was turned into a playground where various sporting events were held.

The Railways had constructed a pavilion and a portion of gallery for the convenience of the local residents. After 10 years, the pavilion is now in a dilapidated state.

Parts of it have been damaged because of lack of maintenance. The local people alleged that the construction was not up to the mark.
