Loreto for early academic session

Ranchi, March 3: Students of Loreto Convent would now get ample time to prepare for their annual and board examinations.

The school management has decided to change their academic session from March-February from tomorrow.

Further, the school officials said that gradually the academic session would be shifted to February-January (2009) and then finally to January-December (2010).

Previously, the school followed April-March session. All city-based CBSE and ICSE schools are following this pattern.

While speaking to The Telegraph from New Delhi, the assistant secretary of the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), B.J. George, said few ICSE-affiliated schools have decided to change their academic session.

“These schools might have taken the decision to complete their syllabus on time and also to give students two months for board preparations. But the examination system will remain unchanged for such ICSE-affiliated schools,” George added.

School principal of Loreto Convent, Sister Goretti, hinted about such a change in academic sessions, but quickly added: “It’s our own school decision.”

However, few ICSE-affiliated schools like St Thomas, St Xavier’s School, Bishop School, St Anthony’s and Sacred Heart Convent do not have any plans to follow the March-February academic session.
