Mixed luck for paddlers

New Delhi: Indian men and women had contrasting fortunes at the world team table tennis championships as the former blanked Nigeria 3-0 but the eves lost 2-3 to Australia.

Soumyadeep Roy set India on their way, securing a 12-10, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9 victory over Nosiru Kazeem in in Guangzhou. Achanta Sharath Kamal beat Monday Meotohun 12-10, 14-12, 11-9. Amalraj Anthony completed the rout, beating Hakeem Hassan 11-5, 6-11, 14-12, 8-11, 11-8.

On the distaff, Poulami Ghatak lost both her matches while Mouma Das won one. (PTI)
