Kirsten: IPL a challenge

New Delhi: India’s coach-designate Gary Kirsten feels the huge sums offered by the Indian Premier League (IPL) could pose a challenge for him in terms of management of the players with heavy pockets.

“The IPL is new territory. So maybe, the kind of money that’s come in, presents a new sort of challenge for me,” said Kirsten, adding: “We will focus on that if the need comes.”

Kirsten said the IPL was a great opportunity and he saw “no reason why it shouldn’t succeed”. “The IPL is unique because it brings in a new kind of supporter to cricket. It also adds a new dimension to the game. I think it’s great,” Kirsten told a website (PTI)
