Dibrugarh, Feb. 24: Tinsukia Cricket Academy registered a mammoth 245-run victory over Naharkatia Cricket Academy to enter the quarterfinals of the sixth Rafiur Rahman All-Assam Prize Money Cricket Tournament which is under way at the Chowkidingee playground here.
In the 35-over match, Naharkatia won the toss and decided to field first. However, the team’s weak bowling attack came under fire as the Tinsukia batsmen hit them all over the park.
Tinsukia scored 318 losing 3 wickets with opener Hemant Singh scoring an unbeaten 105 in 66 deliveries with 13 fours and three sixes.
In reply, the Naharkatia team was bundled out for 73 in 19.2 overs. In the match played on Saturday, Duliajan Cricket Academy defeated Dibrugarh Blues by 8 runs.
Tomorrow, Tinsukia Railways will take on Dibrugarh XI.
J.K. Baruah cricket
Sivasagar today entered the Mangaldoi leg semifinals of the J.K. Baruah Trophy under-19 inter-district cricket tournament,defeating Barpeta by 60 runs in a quarterfinal encounter in Mangaldoi.
The Sivasagar boys were all out for 187 in the 35-over-a-side match. The Barpeta boys were out for 127 in 31.3 overs.
Bharat Newar was the batting mainstay for Sivasagar with a solid 68 while Biswajit Mazinder Baruah and Nabajyoti Roy chipped in with useful knocks of 47 and 45 runs respectively. Arup Das of Barpeta notched up three wickets for 25 runs while Kankan Das picked up two for 41.
For Barpeta, Bipul Das made 37, while Nayan Jyoti Das and Bijukon Das made 22 and 20 respectively.
Bharat Newar scalped three wickets for 11 runs and Santanu Bora and Biswajit Mazinder Baruah picked up two each for 32 and 33 runs respectively.
