Bingo, a sniffer dog, was brought from Jalpaiguri and pressed into service at the site of the blast today. Jalpaiguri district magistrate R. Ranjit also visited the site. The police suspect Ulfa hand in the blast.

“The office of the Bureau is going to be shifted to Barobisha soon,” said Tapas Das, the additional superintendent of police, Jalpaiguri.

A bomb kept inside a plastic carry bag left hanging from a bicycle had gone off a little after noon, killing one person and injuring four. The blast had damaged appliances, like the telephone and computer, inside the Bureau office.

The injured persons were released from Alipurduar Hospital today and the body of Juran Das handed over to his family after post-mortem. Ranjit said the proposal for a compensation for the family of Juran, who was a cook at a local eatery, will be forwarded to higher officials.

Tomorrow a team from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Calcutta, will visit the spot to collect samples.
