Jamshedpur, Feb. 21: City-based cricketer Saurabh Tiwary will don Bangalore colours in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The 19-year-old has signed a three-year contract with Rahul Dravid’s Bangalore team for Rs 42 lakh.
Nishant Dayal, the director, Elite Sports Management, which handles the contract portfolio of Tiwary, confirmed the news.
“Tiwary will be paid Rs 10 lakh plus Rs 4 lakh as bonus each year. He’ll be paid Rs 42 lakh for a three-year contract with Bangalore,” Dayal said.
Dayal told The Telegraph from Mumbai that he had held discussions with Dravid and Charu Sharma, CEO-designate of the Bangalore team, today.
“It was finalised that Tiwary would represent Bangalore during the IPL. I have already faxed the documents to the player who is with the Indian under-19 team in Malaysia for the ongoing Junior World Cup,” he added.
Dayal said besides Calcutta, Mumbai was keen to rope in Tiwary.
“However, we settled for Bangalore,” he added.
Tiwary, a left-hand batsman, was confused about which team to play for. Both Bangalore and Calcutta were keen to bring him under their fold.
