Tips to lead happy life
- Marriage Matters

Bokaro, Feb. 21: Alarmed over the steep rise in incidents of domestic violence, divorce and strained relations among newly wed couples, the Bokaro branch of Young Mens’ Christian Association (YMCA) today organised a pre-marital workshop.

The Bokaro Mahila College students and teachers attended the workshop addressed by the principal judge of Bokaro family court, Rajendra Kumar Jumnani.

The judge asked the college students, especially those about to marry, to be patient, build self-confidence and listen to their family members when they face problems after tying the nuptial knot.

The teachers and students at the workshop gave a patient hearing to him as he toed the contemporary marital and domestic problems, which are on the rise as the girls are expecting too much from their hubbies these days. This growing expectation among husbands and wives is leading to estranged relationship, he observed.

Jumnani called a girl from the audience and asked her about her expectations from her would-be husband and from marital life. When the girl said she wants an employed and caring husband, the judge explained that in this fast moving world men mostly get jobs on contract, where job security hardly exists. They receive handsome salaries with annual rosy packages but run the risk of losing the job. Now, if the husband loses the job for no fault of his, the wife claims that she had been cheated, which often leads to domestic problems.

“What is the fault of the husband if he loses the job without any fault? If the wife does not give him a patient hearing and try to solve the problem, some cracks may develop in their relationship,” he said. The judge said that according to the data available, arranged marriages appear to be more successful compared to love marriages in India.

“Please remain patient in life and think twice before losing your temper and taking any erratic decision,” the senior judge advised his audience. Bokaro Steel City College principal Ram Narain Yadav, YMCA chairman C.H. Madhai shared their experience with the audience.
