Ranchi, Feb. 21: Overwhelmed by the rush this winter, the state tourism department has decided to put up signages to demarcate tourist spots in Jharkhand.
“To be erected along the national highways that criss-cross the state, these signages would pinpoint the location of tourist spots falling along the way. The boards would also carry a brief description of the tourist spot,” tourism director Deepak Singh told The Telegraph.
Signages would also be put up at Birsa Munda airport at Ranchi and at all important railway stations, such as Ranchi, Dhanbad and Jamshedpur.
A traveller who embarks at any of these entry points can decide which tourist spots to visit, their distance, the suitable mode of transport and the accommodation facilities available.
Explaining the rationale behind the signages, Singh said most of the major places of interest fall along the national highways.
Unless tourists have done their homework well in advance, there is no other way of knowing which of the waterfalls would fall on the route they are taking, he added.
These boards, therefore, would act as a virtual guide for the tourists.
Reports from across the state revealed that the tourist rush in Jharkhand was much higher than those of the previous years.
