Friday meet to end DAV crisis
Inder Singh Namdhari

Jamshedpur, Feb. 20: Senior officials of DAV Public School, members from the city’s Sikh community and parents of Harshdeep Singh Kalsi will soon meet former Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari to find a solution to the crisis.

Sources said the meeting is aimed at finding a logical conclusion to the case. “Efforts would be made to reach a negotiation between the respective parties — school management and bereaved family. Being a senior politician and a Sikh, Namdhari will be instrumental to help find an early solution. Parties are expected to abide by whatever Namdhari decides,” said a senior member of the community.

Shailender Singh, the president of the Central Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, said the meeting is expected to take place in Ranchi on February 22. “Namdhariji is presently in Daltongunj. He is expected to reach Ranchi on Friday. He has called us to Ranchi for a meeting. Senior functionaries from the school management will also attend the meeting,” he said.

Singh, along with Sikh community of the steel city, is rallying behind the family of Harshdeep, said they want an early solution to the issue. “It is almost three weeks since Harshdeep died in a tragic manner on the campus of DAV Public School (Bistupur). But nothing has come out even though an FIR was lodged with the Bistupur police station,” he added.

The committee chief demanded strict action against the school principal, class teacher as well as the games teacher.

“They did not initiate any measures to rush the kid to the hospital. It is sheer negligence on part of the school management. Strict action should be taken against them,” he added.
