VIP car kills

Tamluk, Feb. 17: A teenage boy and his mother were today crushed under the wheels of a government officer’s Ambassador in East Midnapore

Contai subdivisional officer Namita Roy was not in her car when it hit Kalyan, 15, and Bibha Maity, 35, who was travelling on her son’s cycle.

Two other cyclists — Chanakya Dolui, 28, and Biswajit Dolui, 17 — were injured and had to be hospitalised.

The driver, who was returning to Contai, around 100km from Calcutta, after dropping Roy at the nearby Mecheda station, has been arrested.
