Wedding Wows

The sari has been bought but the shoes are missing. The jewellery has been chosen but the caterer is a question mark. The planning woes of a wedding just got a lot less stressful with Saptapadi, Anandabazar Patrika’s three-day matrimonial fair.

With its offering of jewellery to cosmetics, apparels to furniture, Saptapadi kicked off on February 15 at Netaji Indoor Stadium from 10am to 8pm, with 70 exhibitors under one roof. Minister Subhas Chakraborty and actress Koel Mullick were present for the inauguration. “The concept is interesting. It’s great that the platform fulfils all requirements for planning a marriage,” said Koel, looking pretty in a magenta sari. Also spotted was actor Parambrata Chatterjee. “It’s wonderful to see so much sparkle around,” smiled Parambrata.

Jewellery houses like B.C. Sen, B. Sirkar Johuree, Benud Behari Dutta (Bhowanipore), Nemichand Bamalwa & Sons, Saakshi and Sawansukha Jewellers have set up studios at the exhibition. “We get to showcase our designs and the customer gets to choose from a wide variety. Such exhibitions are essential for our industry,” said a spokesperson for B.C. Sen.

Beauty is also part of the package, with participants like Kaya Skin Clinic, Keya Seth’s Aromatherapy and Roots & Herbs. “No wedding is complete without the bride and groom looking perfect,” says Akansha Modi from Roots & Herbs. VLCC promises a 45-day “miracle pack” that involves skin, hair and figure correction. Easel Digital Prints provides photography assistance.

Boutiques like Amar Kuthi, Bandhej, Sana and sari outlets like Ananda and Jailakshmi’s Heritage offer a wealth of Indian and fusion apparels. From Bangladesh, Kay Kraft exhibits salwar suits, saris, tops and kurtas and Peyara Jamdani offers pretty Dhakais.

so at hand are studios with displays of kitchen appliances, bed linens, footwear, catering and resorts. Saptapadi ends on Sunday evening.
