Guwahati, Feb. 6: Oil India Limited (OIL) will carry out a seismic survey in Mizoram as part of its expansion plans in its golden jubilee year.
“Mizoram has good gas potential, but we will have to drill to explore it,” OIL chairman and managing director M.R. Pasrija said here last evening.
The company will undertake the survey in block MZ-ONN-2004/1 which was awarded to it under the sixth round of the New Exploration Licensing Policy. The oil giant, which was incorporated on February 18, 1959, will step into its golden jubilee this year this month.
Pasrija said the major focus of the company was on the Northeast. “The company is the biggest in Assam and we will always remain committed,” he added. OIL had contributed Rs 1,255 crore to the state exchequer last year. In order to fund its growth plans, the company has a plan outlay of Rs 4,575 crore.
