Aussie dead
Lucknow, Feb. 5: Anna Leela Judy died early today in Vrindavan amid devotional songs and incense after battling for life for three days with a bullet stuck in her head.
Leela was brought back to Vrindavan from Apollo Hospital in Delhi on Sunday evening after doctors said there was no chance of recovery. The Australian devotee of the the Hare Krishna movement was shot at by jilted lover Saurav on February 2 in Vrindavan. Saurav then shot himself in the head.
Crash kills 7
Hoshangabad (PTI): Seven persons, including four children, were killed and 10 injured when their jeep rammed into a tree near a temple in this Madhya Pradesh town. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital, police said.
Jail escape
Ghaziabad (PTI): Chattrapal, the prime accused in the kidnapping of Adobe CEO Naresh Guptas three-year-old son, has escaped from custody, police said. He was arrested on November 19, 2006, six days after the kidnap. Security has been beefed up at Guptas Noida residence.
Jawan suicide
Jammu (PTI): An army jawan, posted at a camp in Doda district, committed suicide using his service rifle on Tuesday. Naik Krishen Kumar of Bihar regiment was found lying in a pool of blood at the Sarna army camp at 11.30am by jawans and officers who rushed to the spot after hearing the shots, Lt Col S.D. Goswami said. A probe has been ordered.
