Fiat’s Jaguar hope
London, Feb. 3: Italian car maker Fiat hopes that the Tatas will share the technology of Jaguar and Land Rover after acquiring the two brands from Ford, British media reports. The company is banking on its associations with the Tatas. Fiat also said it would look at the possibilities for distributing the Tatas’ Nano in Europe. The Sunday Times said Fiat was eyeing the technology developed by Jaguar and Land Rover to use it in Alfa Romeos and Maseratis.
Fuel meet
New Delhi, Feb. 3: The Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, is likely to meet tomorrow to consider raising petrol and diesel prices necessitated because of a surge in international crude prices. Petroleum minister Murli Deora is, however, opposed to even a marginal increase in fuel prices.
Intel money
Mumbai, Feb. 3: Intel will invest more than $1 billion in India over the next three years to prepare light-weight personal computers. The company is partnering foreign and Indian computer hardware brands such as Asus Technologies, HCL, Wipro and Zenith to prepare light-weight Internet platforms.
Holcim cash
New Delhi, Feb. 3: Holcim will invest around Rs 10,000 crore in the next five years to set up plants and raise its capacity by 25 million tonnes in the country. The company is present in India through ACC and Ambuja Cements.
Birla in Lanka
Colombo, Feb. 3: Aditya Birla Group is planning to invest $120 million in a carbon black plant at Koggala, an export processing zone, south of Sri Lanka. The company had initially selected western India for the plant.
