Kapil praises Kumble

Siliguri: India’s only World Cup winning captain on Saturday praised Anil Kumble for bagging 600 wickets. “No sportsman has given the country an honour of this stature. “Even getting to half that mark is a major achievement for any world class bowler,” the former Indian captain said. On the exclusion of some senior players, Kapil pointed out that “ultimately all players have to leavet. But that exit should be in an honourable manner.”

 

Delhi Jets victorious

Chennai: Captain J. P. Yadav shone with the bat and ball to lead Delhi Jets to a 75-run victory over Chennai Superstars in the 50-over-a-side Indian Cricket League Domestic tournament here on Saturday.

Aussies under threat

Calcutta: Australia’s long reign at the top of the ICC one-day cricket rankings is under threat with South Africa waiting to overtake the world champions if they fail to make the finals of the upcoming tri-series against India and Sri Lanka.

Jayasuriya injured

Laxmi to lead
