Abhishek bags both titles

S. V. Abhishek of Andhra Pradesh bagged both the singles and doubles titles of the boys under-16 category at the Sunfeast Junior Super Series tennis meet at the South Club on Saturday. Abhishek beat Srikar Alla 6-3, 6-3 in the singles final on Saturday. He won the doubles title partnering Arun Kadhe on Friday. Top seeded Ankita Raina from Gujarat clinched the girls’ singles under-16 title thrashing third seed Carol Augustine of Delhi 6-3, 6-4 while Digvijay Singh Mehta won the boys’ singles under-14 title beating fifth Karataka Viod Gowda 7-5, 6-2.

AITA meet

Bengal players — Vinod Kumar Sewa, Biplab Das, Akshay Ashok, Robin Das and Sanjib Regius Kerketta — moved into the third round of the qualifiers of Central Excise AITA Tennis Championship on Saturday.

Gurudas College defeated Jadavpur University 4-1 to clinch the Elliot Challenge Shield.
